In collaboration with artist Anna Wolf-Paulie, we cooked a series of ‘porridge pop-ups’ throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s intention is to create warm and comforting community spaces to facilitate participants to connect on intimate individual levels. The menu shifted based on the seasonal produce available from local farms, but always served on a bowl of umami rich rice porridge, commonly known as congee in Chinese cooking. Pictures is a bowl from our May event at Roses in Oakland, California highlighting the bounty of spring with pickled coriander seeds, farm fresh eggs marinated in pu erh tea, and shiso leaves.
